|Congratulations to RRU member Michael Guzzetta, who has earned the 2014 NYSWYSA Young Referee of the Year. Mike has been refereeing for 6 years, starting when he was 14. He graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 2012 and is currently studying Computer Science & Business at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He passed his upgrade assessment last summer and will be a grade 7 in 2015. Make sure to congratulate Mike when you see him!|
Amanda Ross, a member of the WNYSRA since 1998, was appointed as a FIFA Assistant Referee effective January 1, 2014. Amanda becomes one of only four USA women holding a Grade 2 badge, which qualifies them to officiate competitive international matches.
On April 27, 2014 Reinhold Spath was inducted into the Rochester Soccer Hall of Fame along with Abby Wambach, Charlie Schiano, Brian Bliss, Pat Dinalfo, Arman Capan, and Bernie Iacovangelo. Congratulations Reinhold!
On August 5 the RRU voted in new board members. Our new president is Mike Smith, secretary is Chris Rollins, and Treasurer is Lauren Dearman.
